Sara Kaplan was fortunate enough
to discover at age seven that dyslexia was her best friend. She
learned that her unusual way of seeing the world nourished her natural
artistic talent. Since that time she has never stopped exploring
unique ways to juxtapose images iin her art so that the observer can peek
into her visionary world.
After high school, being mentally exhausted by the constant grading and
degrading of academia, Sara chose career over college. Again she
put her artistic talents to work, this time in the hair salon where as
a stylist and colorist she helped everyone from the most celebrated of
Hollywood to the most "ordinary" soccer mom find the perfect
look.
Now Sara combines both. She works at the Los Angeles Contemporary
Exhibitions (LACE) gallery on Hollywood Boulevard, where innovation in
art, and support of newly-emerging and under-represented artists is the
primary focus. She also works (Mondays only) at Lukaro Salon on
Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, continuing to style and color for her
favorite clients.
Sara's art consists of combining inexpensive materials (like cardboard)
with highly stylized images and textures. She never stops exploring
new ways to evoke beauty in unexpected ways.
Her ultimate goal is to be a self-supported artist, as well as to open
a combination gallery and performance center so that artists of widely
varying media can have a place to exhibit. |
